Additional Information

Here is another elusive watch.  This is a 1936 American Clipper in 10KT white gold filled.  It has a 10AE 17J movement with a square date code.  The bracelet is also white gold filled.   I purchased a lot of 12 watches off of ebay for $20 for this watch and several seiko's.  Bonus was a ladies 14kt gold Elgin from the 20s.  Lucky me.   I serviced the watch and did my best to clean the dial.  It is running great.   Placing an order for a crystal this week.  Here is the ad that states it is available in White Gold.   I do not believe I have seen a white gold version yet on this site.  Interesting that the pricing is lower for the white gold.   Guess white gold was out of fashion by 1936.

Additional Information

Reasearch leads me to believe this is a 1939 American Clipper "A". Yellow gold on original bracelet and shows no signs of wear. Case and band are as reflective as a mirror with no scratches, brassing or scuffs. Crystal is perfect. Dial is a bit chalky in appearance, likely from a poorly orchestrated cleaning.

Movement bears both a shield for 1939 and a crescent moon for 1938.

Online auction purchase - it was initially listed as a women's watch (nobody was watching) - $25 including shipping. Inside of back has a jeweler's mark (sharpie pen) indicating the last service was in 2005. Keeps perfect time.

Additional Information

On 4/11, a 1945 ad was posted, identifying half a dozen unidentified watches as "American Clipper".  Coincidently, on the same day, I obtained this one.  It's unique from the others in one respect.  The movement is a 17 jewel 10BCC.  The movement date code suggests 1946, which matches the case back.  Up to this point,  the earliest 10BCC in the database has been 1948.

Additional Information

Appears to me to be a 1937 American Clipper "F", and a nice one. Inside of back marked "Bulova Fifth Ave" Caseback is gold plated. Movement marked with an arrow and s/n starts with a "7". No plating wear and a really clean face, hands and crystal. Keeps accurate time as well. Displays a multitude of jeweler marks on inside, so it was well cared for. Band is probably the 1st replacement after original and is a Speidel "Golden Knight 48". First named Speidel I have ever encountered. Band shows light plating wear on highest points. As an interesting side note; while doing research, I found a watch blog post from 2015 showing  another  American Clipper "F" mounted on this same (but extensively damaged) band, which I thought was an interesting coincidence.
