The X on the movement when combined with the dial and case style says it was produced in 1943. Case is a Bruce  and the dial has been refinished in a custom color, Red. Black 'Modern' style hands have been added.

Hope this helps..

Could be either a dirty movement train or a dicky hairspring or staff on the balance wheel.

It could also be something as simple as the second hand coming into contact with the dial. Looks like at tight fit.

Ah yes.... the old dicky hairspring.... I've seen that more than once.

Excllent!

I have an American Clpper that ran like a clock until removing it from the case one day. I recall fumbling the works in a near tragedy before returning it back to safety. Now the watch  stops each time the seconds hand reaches 53 seconds or so, or it did.

Thanks!!

Yes, the movement most likely needs cleaning, try laying it on its face it should run, let it wind down then take it to a watchmaker for service.
