American Clipper

Hi

I picked up this American Clipper, which members verified for me, for $16. Added a crystal and it runs fine. I want to put a new watch strap on it. The lugs measure 13mm which puts it in the ladies watch category. I would appreciate some advice on the type of strap that would fit and look good.

Tony,

There are Gents style bands in 13mm.

Look for the ones that are equal in width or taper only slightly to the Buckle end (to 12mm) and are round on the strap end, which would be a 30's - 40's style, for an authentic vintage look.

example below is a vintage N.O.S.

 

The pointed Watch strap ends began to appear in the 1950's

Ladies styles will taper radically to the Buckle end (6,8mm).

Or find an original Bracelet.
