Another Bulova Clock

Submitted by Timemachines on February 10, 2011 - 1:20pm

Hi Guy's

I thought I would share one of my clocks with you. It is a cool old Bulova clock from maybe the 40's?

It is mounted on the front of my house. This is the only pic I could get as there is two foot of snow in my way to get a better pic of it.

I collect old neon advertizing clocks and I have 8 of them in my home that are all clock or watch advertizements. All are old except one, that I made and it is a Bulova advertizement too.

This old clock I have not restored and needs new neon made for it witch I plan to do, but this clock is two sided and the other side is the same as the front and it is going to be costly to make up all the neon it needs. The clock itself runs well, and the bus driver gets made at me if the time is off, because she uses it to keep scedual. LOL

Let me know what you think of it.   Mike...

Hey great Mike. I'd love to see it lit up at night. What kinf of power source does it use? Looks like more than 120 volts.

Hi Bob,

It is only 120 Volts, and it runs the clock and all the neon. The inside dial is white neon and it works and is on all the time. I would like to do the Bulova watches neon in blue , maybe green? and swith the colored neon so I can turn it on or off when I want.

The case is steel, and where is say's Bulova watches, is black and white porcelin and with the crome bezal, it looks art deco to me.

I snapped a picture of my other Bulova clock so you could see. This clock I made form almost scratch, I came acrossed a dark blue porcelin bezal almost 3 feet around and I didnt want it to go to waste, so I made a case from aluimium (fully welded) and painted the numbers by hand, and painted the case with lite blue hammer paint, then I made up a silk screen of the Bulova logo and screen printed the dial. Applied the sincron motor and hands, and my buddy made up the neon for me and here is the end result.

I know it's not a original clock, but no one would know it I had not told you. (I think?)

The clock is inside my house alond with my others, and we have enjoyed it for the last ten years or so.

 Hope you like it.    Mike......
