Hi Im very new to to this. So being clueless, I need help identifying the name or model of my watch. It has a round black face and what appear to be luminous numerals and hands. The watch is waterproof and anti-magnetic with a stainless steel case. Serial number on the case is G64946. M3. Any help will be appreciated.

The following is an ad from 1954 for the 23 Jewel Bulova watches. I doubt very much if Bulova assigned a name to every watch. Publishers that prepare catalogs go by watch numbers (attached is a typical catalog watch ad) & all the main features are provided to the buyer i.e. Bulova 23 jewels, automatic, waterproof, unbreakable mainspring, crome bezel, stainless back. All the prospective buyer needs to order the watch is the indexed catalog number & the money.

However, 60-70-80 years have gone buy, and we as collectors want to know the complete history of the vintage timepiece we just sniped for a great price. No box, no guarantee, no return. The info you want to know has to be pieced together and researched. Let your fingers do the walking. You have to be a persistant digger to obtain any information. That what this site is all about. We are compiling information and trying to put that information on this site. This info is free, from now on do the research. Welcome aboard.

Give a Man a Fish and You feed Him for a Day.

Teach a Man to Fish and You feed Him for a Lifetime.

The 23 Jewel Automatic first appeared in 1954 and was the first to be produced by Bulova wholly in the United States. As the movement design evolved so did the Case it could be placed into but the screwback Waterproof cased 23 J Auto's remained named the 'Bulova 23'.

Thank you all...this is a great site. The back isn't the screw on variety. I believe el-ooose is right. Guess I'll keep on digging. mybulova.com members have provided best info so far. Again, thanks everyone.

If memory serves that model has a solid case and opens through the front. I may have one at home. I'll check and post later.
