Commadore or Director?

Submitted by plainsmen on March 12, 2011 - 2:52pm

Picked up out of a lot that didn't sell... offered the guy for the Bulova and he accepted.

Looks like a Commadore with original ricebead bracelet maybe?  Or a Director?  I don't have the watch yet but will update when I get it.  What do you think?

Plains......if you only knew how close I came to offering that bird about 1/2 of what he had those three listed for........wondering what the big guy offered him, that's what I'm doing right now. If I hadn't already have blown the monthly budget........

Would you be snarky if it was.... $20 bucks... plus 5 shipping for a total of $25 boneses?  *sand dancing*

PS.... my budget was gone last week... we're working off what my three sell for tomorrow! (sad little laugh)....*sniffs*

snarky - over that? way no way sarge ( or is it captain, I can't remember), that's the thrill of the kill - as a seller myself I sometime feel bad about low balling but you should see what I just talked a little old lady out of last night (OMG she actually ENDED the auction and sold it to me for a low ball I sent her five days earlier). I will NEVER stop trying.....

ever.

Good snag big guy you beat me out today, I beat you out tomorrow, my only concern is that 15-20 people we know are driving the vintage Bulova market. As sellers we are delighted but doggone it Jerin, I want to be a BUYER too. Nice work on the listings you're doing, good photos and descriptions are what reels them in, and then they fight over it. Oh, almost forgot, I like the web site too, well done.

geoff (no blood on my nose)

Thanks man.... I'm trying with the listings... been getting my picture taking skills up... that lightbox has become a constant companion of mine recently!  I figure the better description the more apt people will be to fall in love with the watch like I have.  It's the stories behind these watches that made me really start getting into them myself!  Hoping to make super collectors out of them all.

Thanks for the shoutout about the website.  I was having some trouble adding watches to it about a week and a half ago... so I haven't messed with it lately.   I need to start adding some again.

Nah... I've made some good snags and looks like we're all in there togther chasing the dragon!  heh... I don't mind when one of my buddies on here grabs a nice watch... Oh I maybe a litle jealous!... but never growly.. heh!

Yeah... I'm loving buying watches... What I really want to do is get a good collection of the U.S. Military Ord watches going... but wow... so expensive to get into.  I'll have to be savvy and just watch for a snag here or there.

I plead the 5th (oops, can't do that when talking TO the 5th) alright, guitly as charged but then I have underpurchased the market as well, as recently as last night ( by $50!)

I agree on the bracelet, I have and will continue to buy watches for just the crown or the hands and especially the bands.

Now that's something I should start paying attention to more.... I need to learn the bands.

Heck... i need to be able to recognize solid gold vs rgp or gf....

It must be the sudden addition of my interest in the brand.... ;-)

BTW, in a way that wouldn't surprise me.  When I started collecting Hamilton WWs, the prices went up.  That's part of why I moved to Elgins.  Then Elgin prices started to go up.  I buy a Bulova, and Bulova prices go up.

It must be me.  It's like how whatever line I get in at the supermarket, it always becomes the slowest.
