Name these three old gents...

Submitted by plainsmen on March 13, 2011 - 5:38pm

So... picked these up today.  Here's what I know about them as I don't have them in my possession as of yet so I'm just going on my sellers word.

"#1 - IS A 15 JEWEL "9A" MOVEMENT, THE DIAL IS REALLY NICE FOR THE AGE, IT IS THE ORIGINAL DIAL! IT IS COMPLETE, TICKS, AND STOPS, THIS ONE HAS NO SYMBLE ON IT, I REALLY THINK THIS IS FROM 1924, THE VERY FIRST YEAR BULOVA STARTED MAKING WATCHES!

#2 - IS A "UNIDENTIFIED" CASE A RARE BULOVA, THIS HAS A SUPER NICE 2-TONE CASE, IT IS ALL 14KT GOLD FILLED, VERY DETAILED, AND IT IS HINGED. THIS WATCH HAS THE 10AN 15 JEWEL MOVEMENT, AND DATES TO 1929, SUPER NICE, BUT NOT RUNNING.

#3 - IS A HIGHLY DETAILED ART DECO BULOVA, THIS HAS THE 10AN, 15 JEWEL MOVEMENT TOO, AND IT DATES TO 1927, IT HAS A HINGED CASE, AND IS COMPLETE, JUST NOT RUNNING."

I'll post this question up and then give my opinions as to what I think they are... after a few helpful suggestions from some friends.

#1 Unknown 9A movment... maybe a recase but who knows until I get it.  I'll be looking the ads for this one.  Sounds like pre-date stamp.

#2 1929 "Fleetwood" as per this ad:

#3 1927 Trojan?  As per this ad:

I thought the Ambassador as well Wayne.... but someone pointed out to me that the Ambassador maybe wasn't white/yellow gold two tone and suggested the Fleetwood?

I then found that two tone Fleetwood and and it seems to match I think?

 Above is my 1930 Ambassador

I hope your watch is a Fleetwood, I have never seen the watch only the ad.

Same ad for 1930 as well.

Ther is another one coming up soon on the bay

Methinks the Fleetwood is the same watch that turned it's name into the Ambassador... but wait.  Your Ambassador ad... while in color... doesn't show two tone on the bezel?

Are you sure YOU don't have a FLEETWOOD Mr. Wayne? As per your ad the Ambassador was all white gold?  And then adversly the Fleetwood is the same watch two-tone?

It's a possibility. Do you recon an ebay seller would lie about the name of a watch? LOL

I have never seen that exact Fleetwood ad before & the one I do have doesn't show any gold. So it is a distinct possibility. Have you seen another Fleetwood ad anywhere?

Here is the ad I have.

Hello? Mrs Plainsmen? Hi, it's Geoff from the Bulova web site where Jerin spends the few minutes a day that he's not buying Bulova watches on e-bay. How are you tonight? I'm fine, thank you. Yes, I'm sure you and the the children do miss him and all the grocery money but here's how you can get him AND the money back...........Go to the 7-11 and buy that sports magazine with pictures of the girls wearing swim suits, drop it on the coffe table just when he signs into his e-bay account. When he picks up the magazine, grab his computer an click on "my account" follow the directions to 'change my password', be quick now, we haven't much time. When you have to enter the new password just type in some random numbers and letters and click save (remember, we haven't much time here, he's really sick and the bathing suits won't hold his attention for long). Make sure you do the really random password so you won't be able to remember it even when he howls (and he will). They say the sickness passes quckly, he should be cured in 3 days.

I'll stop by in a couple days and pick up the watches. Yes, I'll pay you but it won't be as much as he paid for them, sorry....

You're very welcome Mrs Plainsmen, good night to you too. By the way......can you tell me what time it is?

I forgot my watch today.

And Howdy Doo Geoff! Haha!  Actually we had a pretty good day today.... went out for breakfast... played balloons around the house for awhile.... did some groceries... daddy's day to clean up the kitchen and do the dishes... (btw I'll give you $500 a month if you'll take my day away for cleaning/dishes)  Hehe...

The good thing about being sick is I'm SUPPOSED to be laying on the couch resting... oh and it so happens I do that with my laptop!  Horray for Jerin!! Muahahahaha!!  And WOE to all who aren't refreshing their ebay just listed page!! Muaha!! Muaha.... MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!

But back to work tomorrow.... dagnabbit.  Oh well I guess everyone snipes me... maybe I should quit my job!  YEAH!  (oh I'm sure that'll go over well)

Yep.... see here Wayne.  I think that all white gold one that guy has for sale there is in fact the Ambassador.  Our watches... with the gold accents is therefore the Fleetwood!

Big difference now that I see that all white gold Ambassador... and to be honest... I think the gold accents on ours has a bit more swagger!

Wayne - I'm watching that one but passing on it, you're safe. Too much wear on the back, then there's the guts, something does not look right inside that watch.

Plaines

I found the other 1929 ad on the Fleetwood. Another pain in the butt is in 1929 & 30 the Ambassador is shown in a slick configuration & an engraved configuration.

I can barely see the gold, but going from a $37.50 to a $50 watch tickles me innards. Fleetwod it is!

Chadwick, or Nugent?

The Fleetwod...

Trojan or Conqueror??

Wayne I believe yours is a Fleetwood. Here's a bigger version of the ad above. You can see the gold tones in the sides and top and bottom strips.

1929 Bulova Fleetwood

I got the watches yesterday.

They are the 1929 Fleetwood and the 1929 Conquerer!  Those two are going to be awesome watches!  Mike hopefully you have time in a few weeks!  I'd LOVE to get these guys in.

You know that Conquerer is much bigger than I thought it was going to be.

That other one is in fact a recase.  Though the 9A movement almost runs?  No date stamp... that movement itself has to be pretty rare no?
