How to ID a Beau Brummel?

Submitted by NOVA on April 8, 2011 - 4:20pm

I bought this lovely watch thinking it was a Beau Brummel because of the diamond dial, but when I looked again at the ad, it specifies a three-diamond dial.  Mine has six diamonds.  I also noticed that we have quite a few different Beau's listed in the database, but no examples for most of them.  So, could this be a variant with six diamonds instead of three?

Any thoughts on how I should list this watch?

Here's a 1962 ad for a Beau Brummel:

I have one in the database, 1959 under "O", it has 5 Diamonds. not saying it is an "O" but I know its not the other 3 on the list because they take shaped crystals also.

I have seen ad's showing anywhere from 3-12 diamonds on the dial.

I think the only ad I saw that had the letter designations was the "TW" &" ZZW" in one of the 1962 ad's.

There should be just a "Beau Brummel" in the list.

Enter it as other and maybe Stephen will add a generic Beau Brummel to the list.

Found these additional BBs from a 1962 ad.  Note that Brummel is spelled with one "L" in the previous ad and two "L"s in this ad.

It's definitely a Beau. They came in a number of diamond variation, 3,4,6 and 12

Here's another Beau Brummel -- the 4 diamond "C" model.  Ad is from 1964.
