Just picked this up.... looks to have an original bracelet.
The dial looks like the 1934 Rubaiyat... but the bezel and bracelet look more like the same year Lone Eagle??... I'll update with better pics when I get it.
Well, I can't help but notice that it doesn't have a subdial. That's very strange for that style of watch. In fact, I'm quite sure I've never seen that before. We see the no subdial on mid/late 30s models like the President, Treasurer, Phantom, etc. But those are all similarly styles cases and very different from this one.
I would really like to know what the movement is.
I just went and looked at the '34 Rubaiyat, and you're correct, it is a match for the stepped case and no subdial, so there is at least one possibility for this combo.
The Rubaiyat has no engraving in the ad we have, and the case looks a bit different, but a least it is precedent for this overall style. I didn't think there was precedent, so I didn't bid on this one. The seller posted it as a lady's watch, and, between that and the no subdial on a stepped case, I thought it was too risky to bite.
I hope it turns out you got something legit and new.
I made an offer.. she put it in a BIN for a about 20 more than I offered... heck.... that band is worth what I got it for.... an original old engraved band like that? Sweet! I'll hold onto it for that 34-35 Lone Eagle IV I've been looking for.
Yeah... it's pretty unusual thought at least with that Rubaiyat we know it's possible and obviously if they made one with that movement it wasn't a movement made exclusively for the Rub..
We have so little for the early mid 30's ads/info
DUDE...
Looks like a 1933 - 35, alright? Bulova Marketing hybridization?! Or assembly line "creativity???" I often used to take things apart and customize' em, myself... to "one up" the original designers!
WTH? No sub seconds?? (Look of bewilderment...) Maybe it's a Frankster??? (Wink...)
And nice period band, man!
