1933 President? which president model?

Hi Wayne,

beautiful watch.  i have one similar.  it has art deco stepped case in white and yellow gold (10K RGF?) and the case is hinged.  it was given to my father in 1934 (engraving on case back) but movement is dated, 'X,' for 1933.  movement is 10AN Fifteen Jewels Adjusted.  back of case serial # is 553330.  on the inner case it reads, Bulova Quality, below is a number/letter code that may be from the watchmaker-

26L(L in script)P1952; below that is a formal #, 3198978.

She runs like a top and who knows when last serviced.  today is its "birthday," as it was given to my Dad on May 5, 1934.  77 years and still a beautiful piece of functioing craftsmanship!  also no sign of Swiss marking, do you think it is all American?

Any information you or any one else can offer would be greatly appreciated!  I do not have pictures because i only have an old fashioned camera and photo is too many MB.  do you have a recommendation for a good, simple digital camera that would help with this?

thanks again, sam

Sam,

I just changed the date on my watch to 1932, T symbol on the movement. My 10AN is 21 Jewels. there are no Swiss or USA marks on the movement, but it is a Swiss movement.  Bulova started to make movements in the USA in 1935. My 1930 President is a 17 jewel 9AT. I'm surprised that the movement in your watch is 15 jewels. There was also a wandering seconds model made in 1932. No A,B,C varients at this time. So President is a good name.

Bulova didn't advertise much in the early 30s due to the depression.

Happy Birthday Mr. President, Happy Birthday too you.

Wayne

Sam would you delete your matching comment on the now 1932 President please. Thanks

Wayne, thank you so much for the great information.  My Dad was given a Bulova President for his 13th birthday!  I am now the proud possessor and will pass it along to my family some day.

I would be glad to delete my comment, I just hope I know how.  I am not too good at navigating the site.  If it does not delete please let me know.

Many Thanks, Sam

Sam,

There are many reasonable priced digital cameras on the market, the only thing I would recommend is that the camera you choose has a Macro setting for the close-up pictures you will need and that your computer is capable of downloading the format.
