Lone Eagles distant nautical cousin

Submitted by vintagebulova.com on May 28, 2011 - 8:47am

First of all don't kill me, I know it's not a Bulova but it's so so cool I thought you guys and gals might want to see it.  It's a Benrus case that I got without a movement.  Put a 10AN in there just for laughs.  As you can see it is very much like the cut corner Lone Eagle in shape with really interesting blue enamelling in a nautical motif.   My plans are to shop around for the appropriate Benrus movement for this really neat watch.  So is it a Bulorus or a Benova?

Great find Jay!

I see you have a hand painted Bulova dial on this one. I have a 1928 Lone Eagle case with a 1925 9AT  movement that has a hand painted dial. Also, I just acquired a Brunswick with a 1931 10AN movement that has a hand painted dial (both are in the onsite database). Do you have any knowledge of these early hand painted dials, were the hand painted dials available when new or aftermarket. Any knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks

Wayne
