While you were sleeping........

Submitted by Geoff Baker on September 24, 2011 - 9:43pm

Up early the other morning, this one had been listed less than two hours earlier. Had a BIN OBO, sent an offer and three minutes later it had been accepted. Two days later..............

The 1926 Bulova Dictator!!

It looks like brassing but it isn't, there is a tiny bit on the bottom left lug but the rest just appears when I photograph it. The case is white GF even though it looks yellow in the photo. It's like the little Dictator just doesn't like the camera!

Very Nice Score Geoff,

I am so glad I took the Geoff Baker/Plainsman school of watch sniping course here online at mybulova, learning from the pro's  has really paid off for me also in the last few months. ; )  (Looks like I have to set my alarm clock up a bit!)

I can't wait until this beauty is in the database in its full glory.

You know if you think about it... how cool is the database becoming.  Think about just last year at this time... I think I've added about 60+ myself.

Yep,

As Wayne said, we are the "Eggsputs" and the " Horological Hall Monitors", so to all other watch sites, Beware...; )

The "Dictator" name is interesting, isn't it? This is pre-Hitler, so the term must have been much more warm and fuzzy.

Enjoy your Dictator!

Wow

First real one I have seen other than the ad. I hate to spoil a Masterpiece, but looks like the hands differ from the ad. On this beauty I really wanna be wrong.

Your not wrong Wayne they differ. Hands must have gotten changed some time in it's 84 year history. Still a Dictator in my book. Nice find GB.

Not to worry about the Case Geoff, the 'bright finish' as it was called in this era is a thin layer of Rhodium plating, underneath is the Gold Fill Case material, not brass. Have it replated.

Nice find!
