1930 Unknown - Name the old man

Submitted by plainsmen on October 2, 2011 - 9:10am

Won this on auction last night... I do believe I snipped at least one of our members! Muahahahah!

I have a working 9AT from the same year if this one is not going to do the job.

I've not seen this guy before...

'TREASURER'

sat back and enjoyed the show on this one, nice snag.

The seller is a new member here.  I don't quite know that Treasurer is the right call. I think that was his educated guess after looking around the site.  He's an Omega man for the most part.

Best guess from the fuzzy ad section is from a 1929 ad showing a "Spartan". Case looks to be the right shape but that's all the detail that can be seen. Very similar to the Norman but this is not a Norman, the engrving is way different.

That sure looks like our beast.  Where's that one at?  Ohhhhh... I see.  It's one of Scotts...  what else is hidden on that ad we don't have?  *grumbles*

It sure would be nice to be able to read you know... a name on the ad and stuff...

Scott named it a 1930 'TREASURER', it would be nice if the Watch Name and description were left on the ads, no offense Scott.

Looks like we have some work to do here, we have a matching ad, but the name is unknown, at least Geoff's watch matches the named ad.

Nice snipe Jerin, I had it in my watch list but didn't put a bid in, it was at $24 + change when I went to bed.

I'd say the ad matches the Watch Greg indicating a late 1920's Case design change for the 'TREASURER' from the tonnau style Case to the rectangular shown.

Is the 9AT 17 Jewels?

and

What Year is the ad Dated showing the Tonnau Case?

It looks like the ad is 27/28 (Scott)

1930 must be the rollout for a new design and Geoff's is the old model??

I'd agree with something like that Ticker, late 1928 - '30 for the new rectangular Case.

Yeah Gerin I figured you were one of the other two snipers at the end of this one.  I figured that this was a Treasurer based on ads here before I tried to outsnipe the pros.

Great final price.

Hey!  Why does everyone assume it's always me?!  = )   I might be becoming predictable... and I love that price... I had it up to $93 so it's nice to have a little room.
