Got this last year and forgot to post it. New ID's

Submitted by plainsmen on October 25, 2011 - 4:55pm

I got this out of a 1957 Youngblood's Wholesale Catalog.  I forgot I bought the catalog and just recently found it again.  (A high res version was sent to Admin for data-basing)

Pretty cool looking at how much a wholesaler got the watch for and then what they charged the consumer!

Also a couple new ID's in here... the "Neptune", Bulova 23 "H", and the "Senator EW".

Nice find.

'NEPTUNE' is showing a Whale on the Dial.

Whale = certified Waterproof ?

I think We just saw this Watch as an 'UNKNOWN' - minus the Whale insignia.

here it is: http://www.mybulova.com/node/2879

The Neptune case looks a lot like what is often called the 'knotted lug' case.  I don't think it was identified before.

There's another knotted case we have in the database... variant dial.  The "Ashford".

The "Ashford" is dated to 1951 with a 2 tone dial , sub seconds register and gf case. I'd say the Neptune is a 1957 namechange as the case looks the same, though the dial and hands are different and this has sweep seconds. I don't think the Ashford is waterproof either.That would be enough differences to give it a new name.
