My first vintage watch...please help to identify

Submitted by thevilla on March 18, 2012 - 11:22am

Hello All,
This is a recent purchase and my first vintage watch. I have sipped the kool-aid so to speak. The case is marked M5 with serial #I435402. I assume it is from 1965 from what I have gathered on this forum. I am interested in finding out what model it is and any specifics. It runs well and has the original boxes, paperwork, and band. Any additional information appreciated!

Also is there any date code symbol on the movement  like crecent moon , circle , etc....

I keep getting a validation error when trying to add pics. Anyway, it is a stainless round case, linen textured dial, states "waterproof" on dial, and has a leather Bulova band. It also has a sub second hand. As I am not experienced with watch repair, I cannot attest to movement etc., although given advice I am not opposed to opening the watch. I will keep trying to get the pics up.

Try posting it in the "My Watches" section under the Home tab as a unknown...it is easier to add pictures in that format.

Your error message might be due to the size of the file.  The photos have to be 640x480, pretty much as low resolution as the camera will go.  It took me a few tries to figure that out because I don't always read instructions.

Pictures added to "new / updated watches" section as a 1965 unknown. Thanks for the help Oldticker! As advised by Fifth Avenue, I checked the old ads and it looks similar to Surf King model.
