Hello, I dont really post much on here, but i visit the site nearly every day. so let see if you can see what i saw :
Looks like you got yourself a Lone Eagle, most likely, or possibly the earlier Conqueror. Nice find!
Although I did find out the hard way that there is another maker who produced a watch that looks remarkably like that version of LE from a distance. I can't recall now who the maker was.
I also see a '40s Senator, and possibly a late '40s/early '50s model or two.
Well the seller said 9 bulova's and 8 caravelle so I'm really hoping it a lone eagle
Then I would bet it is one also. We'll look forward to seeing it in the database.
Although not close when it arrived, the pic from which I purchased this first watch showed it "hid" on it's side, under some "other Bulova watches" (listing description-lot of Bulova), and in a shadow. So what I had hoped to be a Lone Eagle CC , turned out to be just a Trojan.
But this one below right really got me. Same thing- a Bulova lot- and the darned dail said Bulova, so it was worth a try....Although it had a 1929 Bulova 15J 10AN (mvnt SN 508391) mvent, the inside case back said "S Bruner GoldFilled", so they got me good on the one below.
...now when I look at this case, it looks like it doesn't snap shut like it should, and the hinge may have been replaced....so my first thought is...
"the case back has been replaced at time of hinge pin repairs, and the rest of the case is really Bulova. That's why it doesn't snap shut correctly or quite fit. They just happen to use a S Bruner Case Back, other than that, it's a 100% Bulova case" A dreamer like me will grasp at straws trying to find a new Bulova model.... I'm just now out of denial.....several years later.
Great find man! I always love the moment your just looking through and you get that sharp intake of breath when you see something cool... WHUUUU.. sweet!
Now just hope it's one of the holy grails! First 5000 club is mucho sweet man! If not... hopefully you got yourself a nice piece!
Yes exactly I love that feeling even better when you win the bid. I'm really hopeing it is one of the 5000 it'll fix up nicely ether way.
One question I was asking myself is: should I have the dial refinished since it has radium or leave it as is ?
I don't have my 5000 ready to show yet... and yes.. I'm going to get mine dial redone. I really don't want to mess with the radium much. To stinking dangerous.
Plus... I love the look of a fresh dial.
Hope your lot turns out to be great. It sure looks like it will. Congrads!
Turns out it WAS Lone Eagle pic soon
That's great news. Congratulations. We'll watch for LECC pics.
Don't forget to also give us the movement and case serial numbers. CONGRATS man!
