21J President,

But year unknown, because I can't make out the serial number on the back or the date code on the movement...

There should be a symbol on the movement to date it, and the serial number on the back of the case will help confirm it.

Sorry, I posted with out comment. It was an accident!!

So, if there is anyone who could help me I.D. this watch, it would make me very happy. My father passed away 4/2 and my mom gave me his watch. I know he bought it at Greene's Jewelers in Cleveland, Oh. in 1950 for $75. My mom just found the receipt 2 days after she gave me the watch. Thats all I know about it.

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks Old Ticker.

The serial number is 7666754. 14 Karat Gold Filled.

The only symbol or mark I was able to see on the movement is in the bottom right. It appears to be a square with a triangle in it. I'll post a bigger picture for you.

I would say 1947 for the year, first number of the serial (7) , and square/triangle on the movement would indicate 1945/46 which is not uncommon.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you for the help. Sorry for posting so many pictures. This forum operates differently than most I am on.

Thanks again, I'll let my mom know tomorrow when I see her for dinner.

Looks like a 1946 President to me, though the letter designation for the dial, I'm not sure as there were a few. I think!

Okay, thank you all for the great info. I would have been clueless without all of your help. (I'm still clueless but, that's another story!)

Concur with the President call. It's listed in one of our 1947 ads as just a 'President'  available in pink or yellow gold. 21-jewels $57.50

Hope to see it added to the database with all its information.
