That darn Whale....

It seems Sag Harbour, once Home to the Bulova Watch Factory, has a long history of Whales and Whaling...

...and My cleanest shot of an original Cetacea clad Bulova Dial.

The late 1960's is when We first see the Whale on a Bulova Dial which roughly coincides with the construction of the Whaling Industry Memorial erected by the Citizens of Sag Harbour in 1966.

enjoy.

Great.  Just great info.  Good work!! Now to find some Sag harbor associations w/ Bulova. Maybe a local newspaper article or ad by Bulova RE the facility, the "whale" and the memorial event. Bulova loved to market based on events.

If we can find out any thing I'll bet it will be a "whale of a tale" IMO

This could possible explain why we really haven't been able to figure out what the 'whale' symbol represented. I thought it may have had to do with the 'waterproof' aspect of the watch...but maybe it has nothing to do with that and represents this memorial to whalers.

I believe it does signify 'Waterproof' with a connection to the Sag Harbour Whalers.
