Bullova Accutron- 1969 218 series- fixing vs buying a new one

Hi All,

My father has a Bulova Acutron watch which stopped working (1969, Series 218 (Model No. 1-1 606622).

He used to use it when singing acapella, as it had the built in tuning fork.

I am not sure if it's worthwhile to fix it now as fixing cost $450 and only 6 months guarantee (it was already fixed in 2009).

So my questions are:

1.  Do today's Bulova Accutron still work as a tuning fork/ give out an f# constant sound?

Charles vs Lone Eagle

being new at this I have been seeing a lot of 29 lone eagles with opened and closed 9's, with 6's and without, different movements, recessed sub second dial's and without. Similarly I have been seeing watches that may be a Charles with similar variations. As I look at more vintage watches I'm finding a tremendous amount of inaccurate work being done to dials as well. when verifying watches it seems that movement, jewel count and serial numbers on cases can closely identify models.

New newspaper ads for 1932/33 Lone Eagle resembling an engraved version of 1932/33 Trident

Several recent ads have become available showing a Lone Eagle looking very much like the engraved Trident ads of the same period.  One 1932 ad also shows an unengraved Lone Eagle - looking even more similar to the Trident ads of this period.

Hello everyone.  I'm going through my project box and cleaning house.  Most of these are projects mind you... some are in better shape than others.  Some run... some don't... all will need a cleaning regardless.  Some need crystals... hands... redials.  I mostly got them because the cases were pretty good.

I am a new member and I recently posted a question in this forum topic with no response, I have been collecting vintage Bulovas for a while but have been bitten by the Accutron bug. I don't want my 214 to become a paperweight so I'm looking for a highly recommended  repair person preferably near me in the Hudson Valley area of NY. Thanks for your help,Jim W.

Now I'm hoping this does not fall under how much is my watch worth.

My question is your opinion on the difference in value between a 10RG watch and its twin in 14k RG.

The reason I ask is I purchase a 14k that turned out to be a 10k. Do you think it is really enough to complain about?

Bulova 9L and 10L

I found some Bulova parts boxes that are labeled 9L and 10L and inside they both have containers labeled "10AN" In other words, some containers say 9L 10AN and the others say 10L 10AN. What movement would a 9L 10AN be versus a 10L 10AN?
I know "L" stands for "Ligne" which represents movement diameter size...but what would be the difference between a 9L 10AN and 10L 10AN do you think? It has me baffled.....
