Nice one. I think you are correct with ID.

Is there any way to determine the date of the movement in this watch by the serial number? I don't see a date code stamped on it anywhere and according to the movement data list on here the 6TAA was only made in 1924 and had 17 jewels.

Movement data list is based solely on member input based on movements encountered, not Bulova records. As far as dating, that is beyond my knowledge and will need to ba addressed by a member more knowledgible about early women's models.

I would say Ranfft have the year wrong. My feeling is that it would be either 1923 or 1924. Leaning more towards 1923.

The movement page is very much a continued work in progress which anyone can update as new information is found. In this case we can add the jewel count and year to that listing for a 6TAA.

I'm noticing things from my photos that I hadn't before. I think the ratchet wheel has the wrong screw in it. It seems to be rubbing on the inside of the case back. I bet finding the correct one will a fun adventure.

Dear 1955Mercury. Your watch is the 6511, recognised by the more edgy tonneau shape of the case where the Princine had a "smooth" tonneau curvature. The 158 serial number places it towards late 1924.

I believe I can see a triangle date code next to the word 'JEWELS' and just under the screw. Can you confirm?

If so I'd ID as a 1925 Bulova 6511

It's also possible that the Princine is still correct and what the 6511 became. These adverts show what could be flat sides. Again only an artist impression.

The price point is also a match bewteen the 6511 and the Princine at $28.50

Here's also a 1924 advert showing the Princine with flat sides. So it looks like both 6511 and Princine are correct.
