Zappatore, usually the first digit in the 7 digit serial number is the year in the decade the watch was made. I'm sure you've seen enough Bulovas to be able to tell by looking what decade they were made in. But for the novice, you would start by seeing which movement was inside and refer to the movement data base to see what years they were made. Then look for the date code on it to determine the exact year. That will put you in the decade the case was made and then you use the first digit of the serial number to determine the exact year. For example your serial number starts with a "0". Just by looking at your watch you can recognize that it was made in the second half of the 20's or the first part of the 30's. So the "0" would indicate yours was made in 1930. This applies to nearly all of the Bulovas prior to 1948. There are a few exceptions where the serial number is only 6 digits or it starts with a letter instead of a digit.
