Watch Description

This is what I believe is a 1930 Lone Eagle based on some of the 1930 models with this dial configuration.  The movement is a 13AF with a shield date code from 1929 but based on the style and engraving on the back this is aligned with the other 1930 Lone Eagles.  The serial number on the case appears to be either C29C241 or 0290241.   It is engraved on the back Jack from Eva Dec 16, 1930 clearly indicating a 1930 model.    I can't seem to find an ad.

Here are two 1930 Lone Eagle ads.  It does look like it to me.

In the ads it looks like the engraving goes down the lugs and on this watch in the DB https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1930-lone-eagle-8992

Is it like that on your watch?  I can't quite tell in the photo.

A couple of ads from 1930 in the DB.
Yes the engraving runs down the lugs but is worn which makes it look like it is not there.   The issue with these ads is that the dial is different on the 1930's on the site like mine.   If you notice the hour numbers are boxed and 1-4 and 11-7 are completely vertical.    I am wondering if there was a caliber change mid year and it changed both movements and dials.    It seems like all 13AF movements have the rectangle inner box and straight sided hour markers as opposed to the curved hour markers in the ad.

Yes I see what you are saying now.  There are few in the DB from 1930 with this same dial so maybe it was one of two they used.  I doubt all 4 would be replacements with the same one.  So it may be as you say a mid-year change or something like that.

1931 Bulova Lone Eagle, the case is a 1930 (serial number is 0290241) but movement from 1931 (shield stamp)
This is not a 1931 square shield.  It is a 1929 shield.

Certainly is a classic 1930 Bulova Lone Eagle with the rarer 13AF movement. Whilst rarer sounds good, it's not always the case when trting to find parts for this movement. Once took me a year to find a particular part for one :-)

Congrates and happy wearing!
