In reply to Four ads, One advertiser by FifthAvenueRes…
The first ad is for a 1932 Lone Eagle, and there are actually three different ads, and the one that is used twice is used in two different papers in two different cities, so sorry you are wrong again pal.
If you read the whole thread you link to you will understand maybe.
The ads for the lone eagle mark three are seen from 1931 until at least 1933, and the last official Bulova produced ad for this model dates to 1931.
But we see several ads for the lone eagle mark two as late as 1933. Do you say these ads are wrong? No.
I personally have a May 1934 ad for the LE mark 2, and there have been three more lone eagle models released in that period! Please message me for a pdf copy as proof.
The jewelers sell and advertise the stock they have at the time they have it.
The new lone eagle mark four ads date from sept 1 1932- nov 1933 and the examples of the actual watch date between these years, except for one with the outside instead of the inside case serial, so is incorrect but has a 1933 movement.
I just happen to be wearing this watch today and was motivated into revisiting the model name discussion we had previously.
After years of searching I have finally found an alternate advert showing this watch as a different model.
Welcome the 1933 Bulova 'Bernard'. Note the black lines along the sides which I believe to be showing the side engravings.
It's not confirmed but at least now we have another name to search. It's also the first time we have come across this name. Not sure were the 'famous' bit comes from.
It's also worth noting that this print is very different from both the many 'Contest' and 'Trident' adverts we see.
The advert is dated December 17, 1933 and appearing in the Evening Star on Page B-6.
