Watch Description

Every once in awhile I come across a watch that stumps me.  First off I love the dial design.  I was sort of think this could be a frankenbully initially, but looking at the case markings and serial number on the case and being from the mid 1930's when Bulova didn't nessicerily mark their cases, I think this is legit.  The movement is a 6AF, which is usually found in ladies watches, but it is a big movement.  This is definitely a man's watch.  The serial number on the case indicates 1935, as does the square date code.  Looking at it in real life, it really does look like one of my other dozen from this timeframe. Really interesting the case is long, somewhat the size of a Lone Eagle of that timeframe. I think it's legit, and Unknown.  Though I will say I don't know at all about the movement.  If this is a re-cased Bulova movement it's been re-cased in a Bulova case imho.

Interesting for sure. The case is a match to this one but I question the dial as it seems completely out of character for the time period.

Unknown for now for me.

Yup, no question it's a legit Bulova case. The two I linked to in that posting  have the same dial as mine; The other one in the Db ID'ed as Unknown has a 6AF and the one off site is a 6AE. That's 3 bearing the same movement. Dial is the wild card on subject watch. As we have no ads for anything in this casing, I wouldn't discount the possibility that yours may be original as seen, hence the call of unknown instead of non-conforming

I am fairly confident this is a factory watch.  I am going with unknown as I did reserach this case model extensively and found nothing.   Great looking watch and I prefer this dial over the other examples.

Hrrmm.... A crystal spec of the Air King?  Oh now that's interesting.  As quoted from Lisa "in G-S 1937, which listed the matching crystal as MX484, and specified that crystal as belonging to the Air King."

I'm at Unknown but it looks like a legit factory watch to me.

Certainly looks correct. Weird that the case isn't stamped Bulova anywhere.

It's a sweet looking watch that's for sure.

What do we think of a tentative Air King on this guy due to the crystal spec from the perfit catalog of '37?

Sorry Jerin - I can't support a crystal packet for an ID (and we don't do tentative any longer). Love the watch, Unknown to me.
