There is a 1935 in watchophilia with the engraved case.   It is a hinged case like the 35 w/g I have.   Nothing showing the 36  snap back.  My 36 is identical in size and engravings except the dial is different and not a hinged case.

I don't think I've seen this before. Is it on site or from somewhere else?

It's a great advet and shows the watch in great detail.

Someone - I don't remember who- found links to download old Bulova company reports. It may have been Bobbee.  I remember the reports were large files which had to be downloaded, and I thought they were supplied to you to provide on site as an ad/ID resource.

I was always saying how useful these old reports would be, but I dont' remember if I downloaded them.

Ken may remember details for these reports.....and their where-abouts.

Keeping us on our toes Mr Shelton. Ken is right, we don't have anything in the dB showing Hancock with engraving.

I'm trending to Cavalier, (BTW great advert pickup Stephen!)

Oh, the strap - these are moderately common in the late thirties and early forties on men's watches. I have several. I think I had this one on my 'watching' list recently. I briefly considered buying the watch to get the strap.

I basically bought it just for the strap until it arrived and saw the condition of it and it's case.

I guess we'll just have to put our ole John Hancock on it

The 1936 add Admin posted does have text stating gold color, but says Cavalier is "yellow".  I'd guess it would say "yellow and white" if it was both, as per the annual report add of 1934/35.

The 1938 ad does not state gold color for any of the watches listed, including the Cavalier.

So maybe the two-tone (annual report) Calavier of 1934/35 morphed into a solid yellow gold version in 1936?

Hancock does not have engraving.

I would suspect the 1936 add stating yellow may be less accurate (thrid party add?) than the Bulova-generated annual report add.  I also doubt Bulova would use the same name for a 1936 alll yellow gold version of an Bulova-advertised two-tone model a couple years earlier.

I'm at unknown for ID.

Having gone back through the post and taking a second look at the annual report advert I think we have to tag this one Legion. It's the same watch sans the link style bracelet.

I'm in agreement with Geoff on the model name being Legion. Bulova had three different names for three different variations of color of the same style. I could see where a third party could select the wrong name to go with their ad photo. The bracelet instead of the strap is a bit confusing though.

Will - I have the reports and have provided them to admin.

The Bulova Annual Reports will be made available on site very shortly.
