Watch in ad doesn't have engraving and subject watch does. Looks like a 40's President maybe.

I'm inclined to believe that Bulova did both engraved and none engraved on several models including this one but we need to prove that out. I'd say Banker, though unconfirmed.

Yeah, this one is not shown anywhere as a Banker, I would be tentative at best. If we don't though, the other one needs updating too (which I am more inclined to do than label this a Banker)

I agree with Geoff- gotta do this "ID" to both similar watches- what ever we decide it may be.  I see there are no unengraved 1938 Bankers in watch database. Our first two examples appear in 1939.  Terry K has a 1939 w/ very similar crystal specs, and it literally looks like the visual differences btwn subject watch case and Terry's 1939 case are the engravings.  Plain's 1939 looks the same too.  Both 1939's have different sub-second track compared to subject watch...if that means anything.

We already ruled out subject watch wasn't the Chief, didn't we?  I think the year of ads (and examples for Chief- if we have any) were1940 and up, but don't remember for sure.  There was white back for Chief vs gold back for subject watch.

Still poking around the ads.  Maybe something in the newer "decades" ads threads I missed.

Hmmm very much on the fence, but to keep some level of consistency for now I'll go with tentative Bulova Banker.

jabs,

Could You provide the Case dimensions?

from the tip of the lugs to opposing lugs and across the width at the widest point, not including the Crown.

Thanks.

I am thinking this is a 15J "Ranger", if I remember right it had a long case and engraving on the bezel, I don't remember the banker having any engraving...

1940 ad...
