Watch Description

Need a little help with this one folks. I thought it was a 1940 Doug Corrigan but when I checked the database, the case is wrong. I think the Corrigan has a stainless back and this one is gold and the vertical portion going towards the lugs is different...or basically not there. It hasn't been delivered yet but when it gets here I will update the crystal information because I'm going to need one...it is missing.

I believe it is indeed a Doug Corrigan. It appears to be missing the overlay piece as seen in this example (shown unassembled).

I have 2 of this model presently; a 1939 and 1940. The '39 has a gold plated back and the '40 is stainless. It appears from your photo that the case back s/n starts with a "9", hence the gold back.

I'm going to call

1939 Doug Corrigan, noting missing 3rd piece overlay of 3 piece case and lug extenders. I like it as it is. very cool.

Long story short.....that piece comes off REALLY easily. I had (have?) this watch and went for a long walk after work one night with my wife while wearing it.As we were close to returning home I noticed that piece was MISSING! I spent and HOUR retracing every step I took on that walk and never found the piece.......until I returned home and found it on the door step. I never wore the watch after that day.

1939 Bulova Doug Corrigan (BTW, I had a fellow that worked for me several years ago who was a grand nephew to ole Doug Corrigan)

For what its worth, Doug Corrigan's Curtiss Robin has been recovered and its now at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino California awating restoration. Knowing the guys at PoF, this plane will fly again. I hope they can find one of these watches to go with the display.

Nice score. I've been sort of looking for one of these for awhile.
