Watch Description

Check out this near mint, all original Mens Bulova President from 1939. Could perhaps be called New Old Stock, it's that nice. I wish to thank everyone who helped ID this watch. Like opening a time capsule from over 70 years ago... Long, slightly curved case typical of the art deco style in the 1930's ; a 10k Gold Filled case with absolutely no wear-through on the lug tips or edges. It runs great and has a clean 21 jewel winding 7AP movement with shield (1939) and arrow (1937) date codes. Rare to have two years hallmarked, even rarer to have two non-consecutive years. The photos tell the story on this one and it's a beauty.  As with any vintage watch, this is described in detail but no guarantees are made for accuracy (although I wound it and it kept time very well for a full day). The only real imperfection I notice is the slight oxidation of the hour and minute hands. Watches in this condition are as rare as hen's teeth. Dimensions are 45 mm long from lug tip to lug tip and 21.5 mm wide including crown. The first photo is of the watch ad, which is just to let you see the original ad. I do not own the ad; it is not included; just for reference. Band is the same ad shown in the photo, with Art Nouveau scrollwork on the edges, similar to the watch case. Crown is not a signature crown. Band is a rare Kreisler model, marked gold content .025 with Patent # U.S. PAT.2,064,760 which dates that to 1936. I believe that is the same gold content as 1/20 12k gold filled, or 2.5 % of the band weight (1/20 is .05 ; 12k/24K =50%; hence .05 x .50= .025). The band expands with a notched adjustment feature. Just squeeze the sides and it extends; for ease in putting on and off or to wear on a larger wrist.

Just a couple years. I collected Bulovas for many years, starting in the 1990's, and still have a few. I do not actively collect anymore, and need to sell now. But this was just one I ran into locally.

Looks like all pictures decided to red X. Won't help sales much. Or is it sold?

I use to post my pictures to my server and link from the site, but my server died, and the pics are gone...so I have several red x unknows which are about useless for id'ing purposes based on a mvnt symbol and case SN.  It's great that admin now allows upload to this site, cause that keeps these thinhgs from happening.  More costs for storage/bandwidth, yet admin continues to expand!!
