Watch Description

Adding the first platinum watch to my collection.  This is such a dainty and classy watch and I instantly fell in love with the style of it.  I have not been able to find an ad for it yet.

It has a platinum case and 24 diamonds.  There are five diamond on each side and seven on top and seven on the bottom.  The dial is in amazing condition for the age.  The movement has a 1939 date stamp and is a 5AB with 17 jewels.

WOW what a beauty. 24 diamonds and in Platinum!! Would have cost a pretty penny back in the day. Lets go searching!

Thank you Stephen!  Do you know what the crown would be made of on a watch like this?

Nope looked and looked and couldn't find anything close. Unfortunetly this beauty has to go into the 'Unknown' category unless someone else strikes gold.

What a beauty! Never seen another like it and no luck finding an ad. What a great find  this one is! It appears from the great condition it didn't see much "wrist time". It's a pity it has to go unknown for me as well.

1939 Unknown (for now)

Thank you Bob.  It has lots of service marks.  Maybe the most of any watch I have but it doesn’t look like it was worn very often.

My goodness Kathy, you've outdone yourself with this one, it's gorgeous, special occasions only I'd think. I sure wish we could name her.

By the way the photos you're doing are great, it seems you've found a calling there too.

Thank you Geoff.  And the band fits me perfectly so bonus there!  Do you happen to know how they do the crowns on these?  Are they gold filled or platinum filled maybe?  I don't expect they would do any of the crowns in solid gold or platinum.

My guess is that the crown is not of the metal from the case. It seems if it were gold (I know this is platinum) that it would be too soft to withstand the rigor of winding. Perhaps Rob can chime in. I'm curious, is there a problem with the current crown, it looks fine from here.
