I am unsure of how to open the back of the watch in order to take a photo of the inside and date it. I looked through the watches on this website and was unable to find a similar watch and thus identify the model name.

I looked and didn't find a match.  There is a close match that is 14k with 4 diamonds called Duchess but I can not find an exact match to your.

Unknown for now

I opened it. It is a 1932 (mark under the word Swiss) and not 1940.

Oops, I see that the same date mark is used for 1932 and 1942.

17 jewel 6AH movements seem to be more a 1940s model. 1942 would seem appropriate then.

Yes you are correct, the style, movement date code and case serial number all indicate 1942.  I have updated the date and movement info for you.

I do not see a match to this watch in our dB. 1942 Bulova Unknown

The bracelet seems to have been added much later. I find an exact copy in a Jewelers' Best advert from 1968 (forth bracelet from the top on the right.

I assume Bulova watches came with Bulova watch bands and that this JB band is not the original one. It appears as well that stretch bands for ladies were not around until the late 1940s. Though the above advert is from 1968, I suppose the JB could have made that band as early as the 1950s.

I can't quite make out the detail, but does the front bezel have a diamond at the top and bottom?
