Watch Description

I am unsure of the actual date of this watch.  It belonged to my grandfather and he never spoke much about it.  The band is not original.

I am thinking Non-Conforming as well. 

Still a beautiful watch and does not take away from this being a wonderful heirloom from your grandfather.  More than a name it is how he wore it and enjoyed it : )

I'm not sure what makes this one non-conforming; for me it all looks correct, just that we do not have an ad to confirm the model name...Unknown model

I'm also not sure how we got to non-conforming. The ad shown on page 1 is I suspect a different variant of a square Beau Brummel and not the watch in question. The dial alone indicates that its more than likely from the Beau Brummel family, so I'd be tentative on it being a 1944 Beau Brummel (unknown variant).

Have we seen any other examples of a BB in solid gold? I guess that's my big dilemma, as well as a 17J in solid gold as opposed to a higher quality movement. 

I could agree to Unknown if that is general consensus, but my gut feeling is that it's a marriage of a BB movement and face into a solid gold case as referenced by Geoff .

I was saying Non-conforming because the case and dial don't seem to go together with any ad I have seen yet.  I would have said Beau Brummel if the case matched but didn't know we would do that for a dial.  So I am ok with whatever the consensus is.  Because it is all Bulova I suppose it really should be Unknown and not Non-conforming so I would change my vote to that for now.

I actually agree with you Jabs but chose to go with the flow for lack of evidence either way. I still seriously question a factory installed  17J movement in a solid gold case.
