Right side number on both movements is 53. I'm at a loss.

Panel?

I played around with the picture in Lightroom, too many shadows on that part of the picture, but I would say the second digit is a 6, the first one is hard to tell, but it may be a 4. I will try and get the case opened to get a better picture.

I agree on the Dewey ID, s/n for year dating is appropriate here as well,

Something else I came across; my watch is very similar to this Cambridge:

https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1948-cambridge-10016

and this:

https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1949-cambridge-5309

I think the 1948 one may be a Dewey; on the 1949 the crown is recessed, so there is a slight difference between the two. Man, Bulova had so many variations!

On second thought, the case on the Cambridge seems more like a square. Here are is a picture of a crystal for sale on Ebay:

The dimensions on my watch for the crystal are approx. 22 x 18 mm.

Yes it would seem they are very close in appearance and it comes down to the size and shape.  If your crystal is 22x18 I think Dewey would be correct after reading through the other threads with similar watches.
