Watch Description

1946 Bulova  Case back:14K GOLD FILLED,BULOVA and serial number  Inside case back:BULOVA,14K GOLD FILLED,NEW YORK  Dial:Gold applied numbersand indices and reads BULOVA.By the notch at the 6 oclock position this seems to be an older redial.Missing the hands(I can't remember if they came with the watch or not)  Case is also rose gold coloured and came with this Speidel band marked 1/20 10k gold filled that almost looks copper coloured.  When I got this watch it came with the box shown and the guarantee papers showing that it was sold at DeVons jewellers on "K" street in Sacramento CA in December 1947.  Crown does not seem to be original(unsigned)

Damn those Bulova designers, how could they? My initial thought was that the Statesman lugs looked more pronounced, or luggy-er (yeah, I know that ain't a word but I want to see what spell check thinks of it) and that the Director looked less understated.

I guess I'm back on the fence after having read Ken's "case for this case". Still a tough call......

I'm wondering if what we're seeing is just wear?

Oh ye of little faith,if you look at the Director from the back you see the lugs angle down in a straight line.If you look at the Statesman you will see a definate curve  where they angle down.

I have changed the last photo again to show the difference in the lugs.On the left is a Director style case with the straight angle and on the right is my Statesman.See the difference? The lugs on mine are more of a curved style .(I know the left side case is from 1947 and is an Ecellency but the case is the same as the 1946 Director). That's about all I can do to plead my case that this is a Statesman model.
