Nice piece here from the late 40's.  Pretty angular lugs.  I think we have a Bulova "Director".

I agree with Geoff. The 'Excellency Group' was introduced in 1946 and whilst they still used individual names, it looks like they were all grouped into the "his' and "her' naming category as of 1947.

So with this in mind I would say the watch is a 1947 Bulova His Excellency "DD"
