Watch Description

Panle member Geoff Baker suggested I post here from another forum for further discussion.  This is a 1948 (serial number 8740132) 14k pink gold filled Treasurer case.  The movement however is a 1947 10BC with 21 jewels and adjusted.  This movement of course has no holes for movement ring screws.  Looking at movement ring I can't see any evidence of marring from screw heads.  The dial is salmon colourd and has gold hands.

Thanks "What does....." I don't think your watch is a Treasurer, I think it's an His Excellency. I don't remember for certain but I think the name jumped in either 1947 or 1948 and Treasurer became His Excellency. This advert (from 1947) show the watch in yellow, pink (rose) or white and also shows the dial you have. A one year difference in movement to case is very common and is not a concern. I think it's a 1948 His Excellency

PS- one of my ALL TIME favorite Bulova watches

Thank you for your help and guidance on this one Geoff, very much appreciated.

I was thrown off by the movement, because I thought all the HE models had 10AK movements.

It's also one of my favorite Bulova designs and rarely comes up for sale around here, (south-western Ontario, Canada).  In 30 years I've only seen four in the wild.

Southwestern Ontario sounds close to where I lived for almost 20 years in south EASTERN, Michigan (translation = Detroit area)

Never saw any episodes of SCTV but we listened to Stuart MacLean's Vinyl Cafe every Saturday morning on CKLW.

From the adverts, your watch is a match for the 1947 Bulova His Excellency. Pink gold variant not confirmed.

One of my favorite 40's men's watches.  The case design and the salmon color dial really make it a stand out.  I agree that this would be a His Excellency.
