Nice Academy Award "T" in original clam shell case with period 'Velvet Grip' scissors band. Movement and case both carry A9 date code.

How rare do you think this 1949 model is? I was poking around in my collection of Bulova's checking for model names for inventory and started reading up on the Academy Award watches, then find this post regarding the 1949 model and sure enough mine is as well.
It looks identicle to this one but a flex band.
I will take some photos and make a new post with all the information soon.

Hi Sidmind, I think there's a difference between 'rare' and 'rarely seen'. My belief is that very few Bulova watches are rare, they were after all, mass produced mid century consumer goods. On the other hand I would say that this particular model of Academy watches is one that I haven't seen very many of, in other words, 'rarely seen'. Bulova claims to have lost all records prior to the mid 70's so we'll never know how many were made, but my guess is hundreds of hundreds.
