Hello,  It looks like you might have a 1949 case.  Can you confirm, does it have an A9 or 49 on the back of the case?  And on the movement is there a letter/number combination above the Bulova or anywhere?

I believe it is M1 above the combination above the Bulova.

Thank you for confirming that.  I thought that is what I was seeing but wanted to make sure.  This would mean you have a 1961 movement replacement.  I am going to update the date to 1949 based on the case date stamp.

Hmmm case looks like Knickerbocker or Comptroller from ´40, but movement is 21 jewels from 1961, hard to say about what watch will go

Looking at a few threads on similar watches it looks like for 1949 this was probably Chief.  The Knickerbocker, Comptoller, Clinton, and Chief all had this case with the Chief ad being in 1949.  You watch might still be IDed as a Non-Conforming due to the movement replacement.

Based on the discrepancy between date codes, I have to call this one non-conforming.

I think this watch should be published as a 1949 Chief. I get it that is has a replacement movement of a different age but I think it's Chief case.

1949 Bulova Chief (replacement movement noted)
