I have no clue what this guy is.... it's the first one I've had though I saw another on the bay a few weeks ago.

Nothing in the ads.... everything points to absolutely legit unknown.

Yeah it's pretty cool that even after all the bush beating we've been doing the last couple years there's STILL a chance to round up a totally unknown model!

I've only seen 2 of these.... though maybe some of the other guys have had better luck?

So far, based on the crystal, I come up with Arlington and Captain neither of which are in the watch db or ad db.

The crystal appears to be flat, correct, not military?

**EDIT** Playboy crystal also comes up. There is one '49 Playboy in the watch db with the same dial and hands. The '49 ad Playboy has exploding seconds and different hands.

If Plains' crystal really measures 21.1 x 21.1, then these models are listed as taking that crystal (G-S S430):

  • Attorney
  • Arlington
  • American Clipper A
  • Captain
  • Garfield
  • Playboy

We have ads for the American Clipper and Playboy.  I have both those models, and they do take this crystal.  I also have two "unknowns" that take this crystal, and they do not resemble Plains' watch.

If his crystal really measures 22.1 x 22.1 as stated, then I don't find a crystal possibility.

If his crystal measures 22.0 x 22.0, then S445 would be a match, and it is listed for Bulova, but I don't see any models listed as using it.
