Watch Description

Hi all I believe this is a 1949 Tuxedo I bought this one back in December and have waited until I got it back from Jeff Shimp before I put it on to the db.  It required servicing and dial refinished. I think you will agree this now one fine example of this model. the bezel and case are 10 k gold rolled plate, the case is marked Bulova A9 and has the serial number 2610807. the inside, Bulova Fifth Ave, New York. The movement is marked A9 and is 17Jewelled 8AC. the dial was refinised by International Dial.

That's a beautiful Tuxedo Donegd. You've got one final detail that needs attention. The hands. The examples of the Tux on here have a various mixture of hands, but the ads seem to show this model with Index style hands I think. Anyone know for sure which style hands should be on this model?

So did I Plains....but Spring 1955 Bulova Price List cumulative section suggests otherwise....

I was also checking the mens Diamond Dial section, but not finding Tuxedo listed there- but this section is usually newer releases or updated prices, so I'm not surprised its not listed based on its date of release.

Tuxedo.  I've got the exact same watch.  Interesting price for a "diamond dial" model.

Wondering if the Tuxedo no variant became the Tuxedo "A" based on date of manufacture/advertising?  They both have the same Bulova internal number in price list (38743).  There's also that more expensive Tuxedo "A", which is most likely solid gold, and could also be a function of date of first release.
