Watch Description

I bought this watch on Ebay in 2010 from a New York based seller (called partime77 - Ghevond Boyakhanjyan) who is now no longer active. Although they did have a very good rating at the time. (I include their name in case they are active on this site).

The watch was listed as "1949 Mens BULOVA 10k Gold Art Deco Etched Vintage Watch" and that is all I know about it.

I mainly bought it because I loved the look of it!

I would also like to ask advice about a replacement dome for the face. It wasn't the original that came with it as it was a type of plastic.

Unfortunately, I cannot remove the back which certainly looks like it is not original.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing. I believe the back is correct for the case. If not, it came from a similar watch. My first thoughts were Cadet or Allerton, but neither is a lug shape match. Seeing the movement date code would really help. Can you post a photo of the side of the watch  in profile to show lug shape?

Nice pickup/match, Merc. I think you are correct. The lugs tell the story. Casing is definitely a

1949 Viking.

with a replaced or refinished dial.

Welcome to myBulova and thanks for sharing your watch with us.  Viking looks spot on with a very distinct case.  And a unique refinished dial.

1949 Buloav Viking is a match.  Looks to be a cleaned and modified dial.
