Watch Description

This was my fathers watch and other than it is a Bulova and it says "Bulova 10K Gold Filled on the back with the case number, I know nothing else about it. I almost threw it away! It winds and it works great. Any info would be appreciated. Has 21 Jewels. Thanks.

Mid 40's.

What does it say on the caseback?

It has the number I listed above and 14K Gold Filled. I brought it to a place yesterday to find out more and it was very difficult to find the exact watch in their books, to our best  guestamate it was circa 1950. Thank you for your responce.

I believe that it's a President.

I'd agree with that Jay.

* Note the difference between the President, which I'm assuming is an 'A' and the President 'D' :

The strap -  Leather vs Flex Band.

So this Watch is a President 'D'

havasufem,

In order to know the correct Date the back will need to be removed and the movement looked over for the Date stamp. 1950 would have been stamped L0 on the caseback if not an entirely different design, so it's pre 1950.

Not a "D".  The President and the President "B" have a different case than the "D", "E" and "F".  A little hard to tell from my pic but one has kind of clunky angular lugs and the others have slim curved lugs.  I really don't go by the band as it probably has been changed over the years.

Yes it does have different lugs, thanks for pointing that one out!

President 'A'

The last year of production for this 1940s Bulova President was 1948, circa 1950 doesn't hack it for a watch on sale. Recommend open the back & read & log the date symbol on the movement & use our on-site date chart for the correct year please.

Looks like a good time to line up all six 1940 President models from the 1940 ads in alpha order & end some confusion, maybe!

President A

President or President A - Rectangular Lug Tubes

President B - Rectangular Lug Tubes

President C - Rectangular Lug Tubes

President D - Round Lug Tubes - Note that the dial on the President A & D have the same dial.

President E - Round Lug Tubes

President F - Round Lug Tubes
