Watch Description

My husband received this watch from his maternal grandmother.    We would love to know more about the watch.  Thank you.

(I didn't know the year - just a guess)

The pop-off back casing is stamped '14K'.

The movement is marked '17 SEVENTEEN JEWELS', 'UNADJUSTED', 'BULOVA WATCH CO', 'SWISS', '6AH' AND 'BXW'.

The band is connected to the face by a rose gold plated circular link on either side, attaching the rose gold plated linked 1" extension pieces to the plated stainless teel expansion watch band.  The expansion band is stamped on the underside "KESTENMADE', 'NON-CORROSIVE', 'STAINLESS STEEL', 'LSCO', 'PAT.2.267.967' AND 'MADE IN USA'.

Hello Cyrus, welcome to myBulova. It certainly is a lovely watch you've brought us. It might be best if we work to establish the correct date of this beauty as we attempt to identify it. If you click this link, you'll find our 'date code' page - http://www.mybulova.com/bulova-date-codes. It's likely that the movement will have a code, the case does not as we would see it in the photo. Also, while you have the back off could you tell us if there is anything written inside the back. If there is please record it and give us that info too. If there isn't I would ask that you edit the details above to remove "Bulova" from the 'case manufacturer' field as Bulova didn't always manufacture the sold gold cases they used. If you'd like to start poring over ads I suggest beginning in the 1940's, which I suspect is the era of this watch.

I think that family heirlooms are among the most valuable watches we see here, you and your husband are fortunate to have this wonderful keepsake from his grandmother.

Thank you, Geoff.

I will get that info and update my watch info.

Thanks for the advice.

Hey Cyrus.  Beautiful watch.... I'm thinking she's a custom/upgrade case.  Might not have a specific model to find a name for.

Thank you.  In an effort to see if there are any clues on the inside, my photographer friend has taken pictures of the inside.  I should have them posted early next week.

This is one of those amazing Bulova watches of the 1950 and something we have not yet seen an advert for.

Unknown for me.
