VERY NICE, Geoff !  This model appears to be a cousin (same case?) as the "LL" varietal???  See:  http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1949-his-excellency-ll-2427   Although I show no other "Excellency" model/s as taking the same crystals?!

Best :-)  Scott

CORECTION: The "LL" description (see link) indeed states" Applied Gold Numerals" (vs. painted black ones...) so you then have this model, me thinkst?!

UPDATE ALERT Mr. Baker!!

You now own a Academy Award "ZZ" courtesy of Simpletreasures new ad find.

The X dial is now known as the "shadow dial" and from the discription it appears to 100% Original!

Hey Ticker, That's a pretty bad picture so can you get a high res scan off to admin? I just bought one of these is it's " original AA display case" and I've seen a couple more owned by members as well as sold on ebay and in AA displays. 1 Is questionable, 2 is could it really be but 4 or more and a pretty decent ad means a very plausible ID. I really like the potential this find has as I would concurr it is legit but would like to see the source documented and also a clearer scan in the database. Awesome find, This is what we all do best, at it's very best. WELL DONE TICKER!

Time to change the ID, or I'll have to give Excellency 1 star.

Shawn,

Its in tha database already, page 8, 1951, second on top from the right..and I didn't find it Simpletreaures (Bob) found it.

It sure looks like Geoff's is all original, right down to the band according to the discription.

Check out that "Harrington" while you are at it,  I have seen that one here but can't find it in the known's or Unknown's.

I checked on the ad, Man I wish it was a better than that. It's really hard to make a concrete descision. Case looks like it could be bang on, dial description leaves us open to speculation on whether or not "shadowed" means 2 tone "x " dial or not but , the movement matches AA, dial sounds like it could be a "X" dial . We have seen this a few times here and on Ebay with " original display" case so I'm inclined to say 2 stars for sure, 3 maybe. IMO we could go three based on the # of these that have been seen sold as original in display case where the display has been correct for AA. Your opininions folks? I'm leaning towards 3 stars if you all agree with my logic.

Remember when I only believed in curtains? lol, not any more

I had this exact model that came inside a AA case that the seller absolutely was positive that the watc was original to the case.  It had been her fathers and he bought it directly from the store.  It had never been in another case nor had he ever had another Bulova.

I think this is a AA.

ALL - the only thing that stops me from changing this fellow to an AA is the year, we have lots of '50's and some '51's but only one '52 and one '53......if y'all want it as a '52 AA ZZ .....I'll flip it!
