Geoff,

'ACADEMY AWARD' "ZZ" would be the correct ID.

IMO

Second the motion Geoff.

Secondly, let me apologize for the quality of the B. Matthews ad, no wait, I can't, I didn't print the damn thing.

Geoff, I agree with the AA determination.

We've moved on, I believe, from the 1951 supposed end date for the AAs.  We know that Bulova was not ordered to quit using the name, but rather agreed in an Oct. 1952  FTC stipulation to change the way they advertised the AAs.  We believe that the contract between Bulova and the Academy ran through 1954.  We now have ads showing AAs in 1952 and 1953.

I have this same model that dates to 1953, and I will be listing it as an AA.

Yeah, I almost sold this fellow last fall Shawn, I had another and did sell it. The question I now have is...

Should I be looking for an AA display case? I doubt this would have come with one eh?

I would be looking  for a display case. Mine  came with the display ans there have been a few others in display sold as well. I think that this is no coincience, and that this a legit AA id. I would be looking for a case. They can get pricey though, I've paid as much as $70 bucks for one or as little as $15. It all boils down to how much you really want it.

It appears I have an AA 1952 shadowed dial and faceted crystal and am willing to sell it after I get the 3 stars.

I need a walk through on how to get the ad in the listing correctly.

JP, if you right click on the ad and copy it to your desktop, you then can insert it as you would normally. If you have a problem PM  me and I'll do it for you .

Based on this linebook listing that Jim added, this may indicate this watch is in fact a Craftsman. Unless we determine that 1953 was the cutover year from Academy Award.

Subject watch is an exact match, including the mount.
