You should see a two character code on the back of the watch, such as "L5" of "M5" or some other two character combination. Do you see anything like that?

I have searched the back closely and there is no serial, at least not one a complete novice like me can find

I have what I think is an identical Watch, a 17 Jewel Stainless Steel automatic w sweep center seconds - the caseback screws on?

Datecode is located directly under the seriel number - or take a photograph and post it.

the caseback is a screw on, 6 "teeth" for the tool to open it. When you say Datecode is under the serial number im not sure what you mean, there are no numbers or symbols on the back of the watch ( i have not opened it I am scared there is a gasket or something I may damage). What year was the watch you have produced if you dont mind me asking?

its hard to see the texture on mine from the picture i posted but the face alot like the 1955 American Clipper listed on this site, although the case is not the same.

The Dial texture is a Sunburst finish.

The Watch cannot be accurately identified by Dial alone, Movement and Case type is also a factor.

Knowing the Year of manufacture (by using the datecode) helps narrow the possibilities.

Take a look at the Case of this circular 1950 'Duo - Wind' from the Database.

Certainly looks like a 'SEA CLIPPER' admin, but without knowing the Date of production and Case type the ID is a guess.
