I can't find any information about the model name of this watch, i've searched for the combination MY, dial and case.
One of the earlier (1950's) Bulova 23 models. I didn't see similar watch case shape in watch records btwn 1954-1958, but have not checked the ads yet.
Welcome to myBulova
1956 Bulova 23, most similar to this one
Yea I saw a similar model in this 1958 ad.
Looks like it is a match to the 'S' variant, as shown here in this 1958 ad:
I had one identical with the same shorter hands that do not extend past the inside track, different from the hands in the ad that are longer. The rule on hands is that the minute hand should be sized to meet the track at it's narrowest point (this being a circle it touches all the way around); the hand on the subject watch would be correct to the diameter of the track.
Yes "S" variant is good vote
Wonder if the case back gives gold content markings. Can't quite read what it says on case back photo btwn 9:30 -10:30 area of the back. Between Bulova at top and self winding at apx 8:00 area. I think is see a star symbol, but can't read other markings.
I'm good with "S" variant, as per the ad Ken found.
There are two star symbols, written "water proof" in between.
Gold content markings are on the inside of the back.
Can you either tell us what it says on the inside case back or provide a picture? As we try to narrow down to model variant, this info is helpful. Please and thanks.
Inside there is:
10k rolled gold plate bezel?? hard to read
stainless back ?? also hard to read
And 11 times signatures ingraved
