Watch Description

This Yankee Clipper watch is harder to find since it comes with black dial and less were produced. Most Yankee Clipper came with a white/silver dial.

I'm thinking it may not be a re-dial at all, I've seen this a few times. Quite possibly a marriage with another Clipper case.

Clipper with no variant seems to be consensus? Stephen, Will, Jaroslav, Ken & Geoff

I'll go with that also, until we can find something that contradicts.

Having looked through and compared all of the ads for Clipper type models, I just don't see this case used in any other model besides the American Clipper. However, the dial in this watch is not present in any American Clipper ad; I only find it in the Midnight/Yankee Clipper models as early as 1962, no ads for either of these in 1961 found, 1960 shows the similar dial with the 6 that looks like a G, and the trilons are different shape and it uses dauphine style hands. It would appear that this watch is a marriage of an American Clipper case with the black dial from a 60s Midnight Clipper.

I also want to point out that there are distinct Clipper models, where 'Clipper' is the model name, and naming this watch a Clipper is partially incorrect in that sense. It certianly resembles one or more of the other Clipper lines (American - Midnight/Yankee), but not to any known 'Clipper' only model.

I'm at two ticks tentative as a "clipper", but note your concerns on perhaps "lumping" thiis into that general Clipper ID even thogh there is no model named clipper w/ this case or dial.  Thinking about changing to a one tick rating.....

Either a redial, or a recase.

The recase may be the best option for the reasons Ken gives, and also this.

The hands are painted with a very light lume, but if the dial has any lume I cannot see any.

If there is any lume, it should be the same colour as the hands if they are original and started out life together.

Midnight Clipper dial, American Clipper case, possibly refinished dial if no lume.

1 tick for me as a Clipper.

I looked through other examples Ken mentioned, and ads, and have changed my vote to one tick also.
