Watch Description

Took to repair shop and women said, it has been kept in great shape for as old as it is.  the story my mother told me was when I was 3 she was trying to get my four brothers and baby sister and myself  in the car and I broke away because I needed to pick up this shiny object. It turned out to be this watch. She tried to find the owner but nothing ever came of it. I am glad I was able to give her something beautiful to wear once in awhile, since we were pretty poor throughout my growing up, but we were blessed to have each other, and funny thing, didn’t know we were poor.  I am sure she wore it at some time, because it has a new band on it, the old one she said was black and broken. Mom kept it all these years and I received it after she passed away. It has been in my jewelry box since I have my Bulova my husband bought for me in 1989 that I wear all the time.

Welcome to myBulova!  Thank you for sharing the story for your lovely watch.  What a special heirloom from your mother.

If it is possible can you take a close clear photo of the movement and add it in the comments.  Is there an M0 or something like that on the back of the case?

I think your watch is a Goddess of Time "A".  This ad is from 1958 so you might have an L# on the back of the case.  Confirmed this was GOT in 1958 with other ads.  Once you comfirm the date stamp of your watch we can narrow the search.

Looks like there might have been a name change in 1959 to Miss Liberty.  The Corvallis Gazette Times Dec. 1959.  Found other ads to confirm it wasn't a mistake.

Welcome to mybulova and thanks for sharing the great story. Good detective work Kathy.

I'm at unknown, Miss Liberty or Goddess Of Time pending confirmation of case date code.

Chatted with Cindy and confirmed the date stamp is M0 so it looks like it is a Miss Liberty.

The Goddess of Time 'A', ref# 6025, is listed in the pricelists from 1954 through 1964.

The Miss Liberty 'A', ref# 6025, is only listed in the pricelists in 1958 (next avail pricelist is 1961, not listed).

Both are listed as White gold, cost $49.50.

The newest Goddess of Time 'A' ad I can find is 1958; Miss Liberty 'A' is 1960. If this watch were a 1961, then I'd say it wasn't available that year and should be the GOT. Rather puzzling, but being a 1960, either model designation 'A' variant works for me.

Great story about finding the watch!

Watches with a story.......this ranks near the top of the list, I love it!

I'm going with the later advert...
