1951 Bulova 23 - I am a little confused because from what I can find the 23 wasn't released until 1953? This is marked as M1 both on the case and movement. Any thoughts?

The 'M1' designates a date of 1961, so this one is correct for the Bulova 23 model line period. There is one 1962 ad (item J) showing this model, though the variant is unknown. I found nine $65 variants in the pricelists, none of which has been identified.

M1 is 1961. Based on the hallmark inside the back and "Bulova Watch Co" on back; as well as the apparent lack of an import stamp on the movement, this may be a Swiss/European produced model of the 23. Still looking.

1961 Bulova 23 - variant unknown for now

Nice advert match. 1961 Bulova 23 works for me as well.

Very likely a European model, case is by Breguet & Bloesch, which we don't see on North American Bulovas. However, the lack of import code is because it is a USA produced movt.

$65 in 1961 is $550 in today's money. A good, solid model, excellent quality.

Thanks, that is good news. I don’t know what I was thinking there with the date? I guess I got confused. Thanks for the review and clearing that up for me.
