Watch Description

Been awhile since my last post, picked this watch up on ebay this week. Dial with luminous numerical markers and hands, marked automatic. Case marked M7, anti magnetic, self winding, water proof, Bulova, stainlees steel case, shock resistant.  No markings inside case except for service marks.  Browsed the model data base, didn't see anything. Sorry my pics aren' the best.

Can you please confirm the date of the watch. It's entered at 1957 but you state the case is stamped M7 which is 1967.

Ads show as Sea King and Clipper.

The Sea King ad above is dated 1969.  The Clipper ad dated 1967.

Sea Clipper or Clipper or Sea King variant? No matter. Watch presents much nicer in hand, once buffed, and keeps near perfect time so far. I'll have to change the expansion band for leather. I like it and will wear once in a while.

I think the difference between the two ads above is that the Sea King says 'Automatic' on the ad and dial (like the subject watch) and the bottom adverts says 'Selfwinding" like the ad. Does anyone else read that?

I'm not sure I can read 'automatic' on the Sea King dial ( in the top ad ) but the copy in the two ads clearly differentiates between the automatic and selfwinding.

I think we have a Sea King.

'CLIPPER'

The first automatic or selfwinding 'SEA KING' appears advertised in 1969, subject was manufactured in '67.

Mark does raise a good point.

The Clippers all seem to be badged and listed as 'Selfwinding' all the way through the 60s, though I did find one 1967 and one 1968 advert that had it listed as 'Automatic", and I cannot find any 1967 Automatic or Selfwinding Sea Kings.

Is it possible we are seeing the introduction of the term 'Automatic' introduced in 67/68?

Based on these observations I'm inclined to agree with Mark and go with the "Clipper".
